Fosdick & Hilmer designed all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for this $22 million conversion of the Historic Alms and Doepke Dry Goods Company (National Registry #80003035) into a public administration facility. The building is a 7-story, 280,000 GSF facility designed for occupancy of 2200. The building includes private and open offices, classrooms, computer facilities, conference rooms, interview rooms, reference and document storage areas, a print shop, a cafeteria, rest rooms, lobby, etc.
Included in the renovation were new boilers and chillers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical substation and power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, fire protection, security systems. Fosdick & Hilmer also designed a 1500 node, fiber optic network for data/telecommunications.
The central utility systems consist of three 200 H.P. gas fired hot water generators, and two 600 ton electric centrifugal chillers.
The project was administered as a fast track, design/build job and was completed in 1995, 18 months from the project design start.
