Inter-operative iMRI for Neurosurgery

Project Specifications

Start-up Year
2006

Construction Type
Renovation

Area
1,500 SF

Constructed in 2006, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center located in Cincinnati, Ohio renovated approximately 1,500 SF in order to construct one of the first inter-operative iMRIs for pediatrics.

Cincinnati Children’s considered a turnkey solution that placed the MRI in the operating room, but determined that dedicating the MRI solely to surgery cases could not be justified. The design solution provided the flexibility of an MRI room immediately adjacent to the OR. Inter-leading doors between the two rooms allows patients to be transported the short distance for imaging during surgery, but also allows the MRI to be used for patients requiring just imaging at other times. This arrangement allowed for state-of-the-art surgery and the flexibility to maximize the use of the MRI.

Program Features:

  • Neurosurgery Operating Room
  • Separate Adjacent MRI
